PROJECT Forcing Friendship
Now that online platforms make it almost impossible to have unexpected encounters, I want to underline the value of the more physical way of meeting each other. In “Forcing Friendship” I direct an encounter between a total stranger and my father. I only met this unknown man once on a schoolyard. With the thought in the back of my head that told me that these two men could possible be best friends, I started to undertake several attempts to find out more information about this stranger. This resulted in an exchange of physical letters and a one-time physical encounter.
